Experience
I am trained in many therapeutic methods such as psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral (DBT), humanistic, and existential therapy. I continually study and speak on current research topics, keeping my work refreshed and effective. By blending a variety of techniques, I tailor my approach to the individual client, which allows me the flexibility to help each client work through issues in an active, comprehensive and results-oriented way. Therapy with me is collaborative, in an atmosphere of trust, and at a pace that is comfortable for you.
Prior to my current private practice, I worked with adults, teens and children in clinical settings, as well as in public schools and universities. I also volunteer my time in counseling military members and their families as a grief and P.T.S.D. therapist. I have worked at the National Women’s Health Network in Washington, D.C., and have assisted people on suicide/crisis hotlines.

My Approach
I work in an interactive, collaborative, and solution-focused way that targets what you need. I will help you gain insight, self-awareness and strength in my role as supporter, confidante, mentor, advice-giver.
You can trust me to listen carefully and without judgment -- guiding you to get to the heart of the matter. I genuinely believe that you can overcome the difficulties in your life and strengthen your positive qualities, abilities and talents. Together we can get there.
Every day I integrate knowledge and expertise with comfort, understanding and compassion. My clients tell me that they feel like I really get it, that I understand exactly where they are coming from. They often say that I am the first person in their life who really knows what it’s like to be in their shoes.
Rest assured that I will not just listen quietly. We will have authentic dialogue about what’s on your mind, what’s going on in your life, and we will have the same goal to resolve your problems – at your pace and your comfort level.
For those who feel afraid or trapped in patterns of self injury, I have a particular interest and training to help you. For women who are facing the challenges of life issues, and families who are in crisis, I am especially trained and interested in working with you too.
