Women have issues and lives that are specific to being female. While the many transitions that women go through can be joyous, they can also be quite challenging and stressful.
I specialize in and am passionate about treating all aspects of women’s emotional well-being and mental health. I have training in numerous approaches to assist women during times of transition and stress, including psychotherapy, psychoeducation, support groups, and alternative treatments. I will help you gain insight, self-awareness and strength because my role is to be your supporter, confidante, mentor, advice-giver.
You can trust me to listen carefully and without judgment so we can work together to strengthen your positive qualities, abilities and talents. Every day I blend knowledge and expertise with comfort, understanding and compassion. My clients tell me that they feel like I really get it, that I understand exactly where they are coming from. They often say that I am the first person in their life who really knows what it’s like to be in their shoes.
My style is to be actively engaged with you in each session. We will have authentic, non-judgemental dialogue about what’s on your mind and in your heart, and what’s going on in your life. We will have the same goal to resolve your problems – at your pace and at your comfort level.
In addition to years of clinical practice working with women, I also have a background working at the National Women’s Health Network in Washington, D.C.. As a woman and mother myself, I am keenly aware of the challenges women face and what it is like to be a woman in today’s society.

"Thank you Dr. Kress, for being by my side through some very difficult times. I usually have a hard time opening up to people, but your personal and soothing manner made it very easy for me to open up and talk to you right from the beginning. I felt understood, respected, and encouraged by you. I am now more confident and have the knowledge and skills to manage and control my own life. I will wholeheartedly recommend your services to anyone who is thinking of seeing a therapist."
